Nature Hiking Trails and National Parks

Our hotel is situated right in the valley of Doi Suthep-Pui, as such, we are nearby several national parks in Chiang Mai. For guests who love nature, these parks offer several activities including hiking trails, camping, and water rafting. Most national parks' entrances are not in walking distance, so you may need to come with a personal car or rental car. Here are a few national parks we can recommend you.

Doi Suthep - Pui National Park

One of the most popular national park in Chiang Mai, Doi Suthep-Pui mountain offers many attractions including temples, botanical gardens, waterfalls and many viewpoints. Each attraction require different routes so if you are interested in any particular attraction, you can ask our hotel reception on how to get there.

Doi Suthep-Pui also provide camping grounds where you can pitch your tent and stay the night. They also have a few hiking trails in the area that offer different scenery, for example, they have one exclusively for bird-watching. The level of difficulty is moderate, it is better to bring insect repellent spray or anti-leech socks if you come during rainy season.

The best season for camping is from November to April which is at the end of rainy season and throughout Thailand's winter. The temperature is moderately low at around 2 - 23 degree Celcius (For winter it can go as low as 2 - 4 degree Celcius in certain areas)

Op Karn National Park

Op Karn National Park is famed for its natural wonders including its many streams, waterfalls, caves and cliffs. The park is a bit closer than that of Doi Suthep-Pui but it is not as popular. They also offer camping grounds and quite a few hiking trails, some of which are required guiding by the park staff. Khun Khan National Park

Our hotel is right next to the Khun Khan National Park, however, their official entrance is quite far away, you can go up the road along our hotel to visit the viewpoint of Samoeng Forest, a part of Khun Khan National Park.

The Khun Khan National Park is not very popular among tourists, making it a perfect place for those who want to explore a more untouched part of the Chiang Mai mountains. There is one official hiking traill made for travellers that go through several natural streams and waterwalls. The trail is not very long and takes about one hour to finish.
